The perfect storm is upon us.

Anxieties and worries have plagued many of us for as long as we remember. Currently our anxieties and worries revolve around COVID-19 and related health concerns, racial discrimination, climate change, economic uncertainty, high unemployment, job instability, unequal distribution of income, persecution of Christians. While all of these events are the result of human behavior with most being out of our individual control, we can however control how we react to them; positively or negatively.

What helps me cope in dealing with these current events is reading and meditating on Bible passages. Specific Bible verses asks us to give our worries to God.

The 1st letter of Peter 5:7 tells us to “Give all your worries and cares to God for He cares about you”.

The letter to the Hebrews 13:5 states in part “be content with what you have for God himself has said I will never desert you nor will I ever forsake you”.

In Matthew 6: 31-33, Jesus says to us“ Do not worry saying What will we eat? Or What will we drink? Or What will we wear for clothing?

Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you.

You have Jesus’ guarantee that His Father will look after all your needs. One thing you and I can control is how/what we think. Pray to the Holy Spirit to help you focus your mind on Jesus Christ; God’s word – including his promises. Feed your faith and your fears/worries/anxieties will starve to death.
